Teaching
My courses are designed to inspire curiosity and critical thinking through a project-based learning approach. I integrate diverse resources—from historical primary sources to popular references such as music, novels, and films—to create an engaging learning environment that connects the past with contemporary issues. My passion for teaching has taken me across continents, where I have had the privilege of working with students from various backgrounds and academic levels—ranging from middle school to university—both inside and outside the traditional classroom setting. My teaching journey spans Indonesia, Turkey, the United States, and Canada, reflecting my commitment to fostering global understanding through education.
In Indonesia, I have been fortunate to teach at two esteemed institutions:
- State Islamic University of Ar-Raniry (2012–2015)
- State Institute for Islamic Studies Lhokseumawe (2015–present)
At these institutions, I have taught courses including:
- History of Muslim Society
- History of Muslim Society: Classical Period
- History of Muslims in Indonesia
- World History
During my Ph.D. studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (2018–2023) , I expanded my teaching experience by assisting with the following courses:
- History of Muslim Society
- History of Modern Central Asia
- The World Since 1945
Through these experiences, I strive to cultivate an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that empowers students to connect historical narratives with their own lives and the world around them. Teaching is not just my profession—it’s my way of contributing to a deeper understanding of our shared human story.
